Sanyuka Children Ministries > COVID-19 Update

Coronavirus (COVID-19) and Cancellation of 2020 Choir Tour Update

As the COVID-19 crisis increasingly impacts all of us, we wanted to update our Sanyuka community, including our sponsors and prayer partners, regarding the proactive steps we are taking in Uganda and, here, in the United States.

We are carefully monitoring and relying on advice of our healthcare professionals and government leaders in making decisions for our children that God has entrusted to our ministry. We also realize that what the world can offer to comfort us and help us feel secure, often falls short. At Sanyuka Children’s Ministries, we teach our young people that there is Someone they can turn to that provides safety, security, peace of mind and comfort. There is One who is over all and rises above anything the world presents to them; Jesus Christ. He is the way to Love, Influence and Restore anyone who is fearful, hurting or in need.

As many of you know, over the past many months, our Ugandan staff and young people have been preparing and praying for the return 2020 Sanyuka Choir Tour in the United States. It is with great sadness that we have decided to postpone our next Choir Tour in the United States until 2021. We make this decision after prayerful consideration of all the information at our disposal: restrictions on gatherings; travel risks; protecting our potential audiences; and the wisdom that our Heavenly Father provides to us from His Holy Spirit. Sometimes making a wise decision results in disappointment. It’s a hard, but necessary, lesson to teach our young people.

The staff, volunteers and youth of Sanyuka Children’s Ministries in Uganda remain healthy, physically protected by the safety of their home, as well as through the precautions given by the best guidance from healthcare professionals and government officials. Every one of our young people continue their education, though this is now being accomplished remotely from our Sanyuka home. Our children continue to be restored and influenced from the sacrificial love deeply expressed by our Ugandan ministry staff caring for them. More than ever, we are grateful for our loyal supporters, sponsors and prayer partners here in the United States who are faithful and continue to stand behind the amazing work God has allowed us to do, together, for the most vulnerable and orphaned children in Uganda.

At Sanyuka Children’s Ministries, we now turn our focus upward. We “fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith…Consider Him…so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” (Hebrews 12:2,3)

We look forward to a time in 2021 when our talented young people can bring to all of us the Love, Influence and Restoration of Jesus through the songs and worship of Him, Who blesses us all so richly.
